What's in a name?
Cerridwen is the Celtic goddess of art, inspiration and rebirth.
Between 2016–2026 the property was a much-loved Spanish restaurant called CasaKeza. Many of the staff were orphans of recent history. The restaurant provided them with skills and training under the leadership of Maia Gedde. For many it became a family. Over time CasaKeza attracted others, both locals and travellers, seeking a quiet place to work and relax.
As seasons changed, the original staff moved on and a prolongued closure during COVID caused the property to fall into decline. There came a day when the restaurant faced closure. This was incredibly sad as it meant so much to so many. In stepped a local author called Marion. She had been drinking at CasaKeza from the first day it opened, even sleeping in the garden after a few too many beers! With a little bit of help and a lot of paint, she managed to reopen in June 2026. There was cheering and rejoicing. But the name had to change in order to reregister the business.
CasaKeza was always about the garden, and the Friday-night bonfires. People used to describe it as 'magical.' Cerridwen (keh-ree-dwen) was an ancient sourceress. In her cauldron she brewed wisdom, art, and inspiration. A patron of writers, poets and painters - and very fond of a song. She was also a shapeshifter, much like the Rwandan insibika. Able to take any form and change at will. The Cauldron is a place to meet old friends and new. To be yourself or someone else. Come share ideas, sit quietly, or bang your drum in this melting pot of western mythos and African folkore.
CasaKeza has changed shape but its soul remains the same.
